Young Voices for a New Era!

The film industry is intensely discussing the need for more diversity – not only in front of the camera but behind it as well. But how can children and young people, especially those from families without access to creative networks, break into this often elitist industry? The Ludwigsburg film project "Generation Übermorgen" offers exactly that: a platform for young people who want to tell their own stories and explore the present through film.

Under the leadership of Filmakademie students Helena Zeppenfeld and Jannik Weiße, students from the Ludwigsburg Gemeinschaftsschule, together with professional filmmakers and film students, will develop their own short film – from the initial idea and script to the final production. They take on roles such as costume designers, cameramen, actors, and sound engineers, experiencing firsthand how a film is created.

How do they perceive the world? What future do they wish for? What issues move them?

The workshop also gives children with migration backgrounds a voice, allowing them to express their perspectives creatively. The project plays a key role in career orientation. While the film industry calls for more diversity, access often remains limited to certain social groups. "Generation Übermorgen" makes an important contribution to breaking down these barriers and providing young talents with insights into the creative profession.

Principal Ralf Broghammer emphasizes: "Education is not just about imparting knowledge but also about opening up opportunities. Through practical projects like this, our students gain valuable insights into an industry that would otherwise remain closed to many of them, yet is also one that holds great fascination."

The project is made possible through the support of committed institutions, including the Antonius Youth and Cultural Foundation, the Foundation "Future-Ready through Education," the Reinhold Beitlich Foundation, the Heidehof Foundation, the LBBW Foundation, the mario-pradella-foundation, the Louis Leitz Foundation, the State Center for Political Education, the Bürgerstiftung Ludwigsburg, LFK Unit Film Funding, and the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

"Filmmaking means shaping the future!"

The three-week workshop is led and supported by professional filmmakers and film students. The grand final presentation will take place in spring 2025 at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg – a festive moment where the audience can experience the creative works of the young filmmakers.
