The casting office is affiliated to the SCREEN ACTING department and acts as an interface between students, agencies and actors.
Fields of activity
The Casting Office at Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg liaises closely with actors, casting directors and agencies worldwide. FABW students can receive support and advice on the casting of their projects.
As a member of the Bundesverband Casting (BVC), our students are introduced step by step to professional casting practice.
Various databases such as www.schauspielervideos.de, www.castforward.de or www.filmmakers.eu are used to search for actors and actresses.
We cast international productions with the help of www.e-talenta.eu or www.spotlight.com.
For interested actors, bit players or extras, we also maintain an internal acting database. You can register here to become part of a Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg project.
WORKING METHODS AND SPECIAL FEATURES
The right cast
It is not only the idea of networking that makes the casting office of Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg unique in the university landscape. In many detailed casting interviews, we cooperate with the students to try and capture the essence of each character in order to find the most suitable cast for each project. How do I organise a casting process? What information needs to be provided for actors and agencies? How do I find the most powerful constellation? E-casting? Online casting or live casting?
The Filmakademie and actors
Thanks to our close links with the SCREEN ACTING department, the acting department is not only close to our hearts when it comes to casting. We promote encounters and collaboration between young filmmakers and both young and established actors. In this way, our students are sensitised to other professional groups, a common vocabulary is developed and staging practice is deepened.
If time permits, our doors are always open for personal meetings and counselling sessions.
Raising awareness of casting as a profession
Casting directors are crucial to the success of a film as they select the right actors and actresses to realise the artistic vision of a project. Their work requires close collaboration with directors and producers to ensure the best cast and create the desired dynamic in the film.
The FABW casting office offers students valuable support and teaches the importance of casting as an integral part of the filmmaking process. The training at FABW prepares students to realise the full potential of their projects.
