The Animationsinstitut was founded in 2002 as part of Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Since then, it has developed into one of the most successful and nationally and internationally respected institutes for animation, visual effects, technical directing, animation/effects producing and interactive media.
The curriculum at the Animationsinstitut is practice-oriented: students work together on their projects and an interdisciplinary exchange with all the departments of the Filmakademie is encouraged from the beginning. Classes are held by internationally renowned guest lecturers and the institute is in constant contact with leading film schools worldwide. The excellent teaching is supplemented by a very good technical infrastructure and innovative research.
Numerous festival prizes for student projects, as well as excellent job opportunities for graduates prove the Animationsinstitut’s educational concept. The diploma projects in particular regularly win prizes at the industry’s major festivals, including the Student Academy Awards or SIGGRAPH. Many graduates of the institute start their careers in internationally operating media companies and well-known studios. Others found their own companies – usually with projects that they have developed during their studies.
