A LIVELY, CREATIVE DIALOGUE: STUDYING AT FABW

What can you expect from us?

We are a lively community of creative minds who inspire each other. A lively network with contacts and friendships that often continue long after graduation – on a unique campus, with 28 study and further education programmes and more than 400 guest lecturers who have proven themselves in the field.

What makes the course of study special?

We rely on open dialogue rather than complicated teaching methods. We maintain a constant creative and, in the best sense of the word, critical dialogue. Not only among students, but also with lecturers and personnel.

What makes our campus special?

Not only the Filmakademie and its Animationinstitut are located here, but also the postgraduate programme Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris and the Academy of Performing Arts (ADK). All these institutions co-operate on many levels and are in constant creative discourse with one another.

International orientation

FABW is constantly adapting to the ongoing internationalisation of the market: Bilingual curriculum in project studies, partner programmes with universities on five continents, offering a mobility year...

More than 300 projects per year

From short commercials to animated and interactive projects, right up to feature-length fiction and documentary films, everything is included. Practice and learning by doing are at the centre of our work.

Modern technology

FABW offers you a wide range of modern recording and post-production technology. The Animationsinstitut’s research department is also involved in the development of new trends and technologies.

Murad Abu-Eisheh

What makes FABW unique for me, besides its incredible classes, recourses, inspired staff and students and the creative freedom it offers them, is its location. Ludwigsburg is a quiet city and a place where I was able to concentrate for the years I studied there, away from the distractions of the big cities. I wanted to study in a place that encapsulates me and force me to go on an inner journey to find the inspiration and stories that I wanted to tell. I found that peace and space at FABW in Ludwigsburg.

Ludwigsburg?

Ludwigsburg!

Studying in Ludwigsburg offers a number of advantages. The city, with its magnificent baroque palace, has a rich history and picturesque surroundings. Precisely because Ludwigsburg is not a metropolis, students form close and lasting relationships here.

Milena Aboyan

"I have a lot to thank the Filmakademie for, including admission. I often failed there, grew, gained a lot of self-confidence and learnt to focus. (...) What is really valuable are the connections, synergies and friendships that you build up at the Filmakademie in a small Swabian town. They outlast your time at university, and later you often work with the people you studied with. That’s worth a lot in a volatile film industry."

Roland Stuprich

"I really enjoyed studying at the Filmakademie, and I can recommend it to anyone. I would also study there again in a heartbeat. It was a really nice time. (...) It's always impressive to see how people from certain classes and study programmes continue to make films together after graduation and achieve incredibly good results. And I believe this will continue to be the case in the future. I am convinced that this is due to the fact that the Filmakademie is a world of its own, with a close-knit community."
