Profile

Interactive Media can be pursued either as a four-year full course of studies – split into a two-year course of undergraduate studies at Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg and a two-year course of graduate studies at Animationsinstitut - or as a two-year postgraduate diploma course, which is performed entirely at Animationsinstitut. There are three different specialisation options: Transmedia/Games Director, Transmedia/Games Artist, and Transmedia/Games Producer.

The aim is to give students the freedom to develop their own ideas, experiment independently and, as such, realise individual and innovative projects.

Teaching consists of workshops, presentations and mentoring sessions in which students from the individual specialisations in Interactive Media also work closely with students from other study programmes, such as Animation and Screenwriting.

Interactive Media offers its students great future opportunities in the creative industry - as game designers, content directors, media producers and more. The Animationinstitut's degree and diploma projects have already won several awards, and a closely-woven network of lecturers and graduates offers unique connections to the industry.

In my opinion, Interactive Media is the most versatile and exciting course of studies at the Filmakademie. The conception and creation of interactive experiences is open to all formats. No matter what your interests are, you can live it out here. Whether games, room installations or board games: Here you will learn to rethink everything. Be curious!

Dominik Schön

Interactive Media is a compelling field of study, because it encourages broad experimentation and delving into diverse formats. Essentially, you have the freedom to choose your focus. The studies are very project-driven, so the main focus is on projects and courses that are designed to complement these hands-on experiences.
