The Animation course of studies begins with the undergraduate studies at FABW, in which basic animation and filmmaking skills are taught. Students then move on to graduate studies at Animationsinstitut, where they can specialise as an animation director, concept artist or character animator.
Animation directors take over the direction of a project and thus the overall artistic responsibility, while concept artists determine the design of a film or game. Students specialising in character animation focus entirely on the acting side of animation, bringing characters to life.
During their studies, students acquire knowledge in the fields of computer animation, 3D design, 2D animation as well as 3D animation, animated cartoons and stop motion. The focus is on developing their own artistic style, while students can experiment freely in joint project work with students from other specialisations.
Numerous projects by students and graduates of Animationsinstitut have already been distinguished with prizes such as the Student Academy Award. The animation alumni of the institute are part of an international network and many now work in key positions for the largest and most renowned companies in the industry.
