Profile

The far-reaching changes in the international film market have prompted us to adapt our study programmes to these new times, to expand them for the future, and to evaluate and rethink them as needed on an ongoing basis. These changes are characterised by the emergence of streaming services, new – especially social – media and the now infinite possibilities of cinematic communication and its diverse, international use.

Our excellent lecturers and guest lecturers from the advertising film industry enrich the programme in theory and practice. A total of five film projects are created during the second to fourth year of the study programme. Students can try out all conceivable and common advertising formats, e.g. documentary / branded entertainment / social media formats through to games, AR/VR, live action, 3D, VFX, full CG, and advertising/promotional events).

The networking opportunities within the Filmakademie are diverse. In addition to the traditional craft of film, new horizons open up in the fields of interactive media, web formats and motion design – essential components of modern communication.

Our aim is for our graduate students to make a seamless transition into the advertising film industry. Programmes such as excursions to major productions, agencies and post-production facilities in cities including Berlin, Hamburg and London or a practical exchange over 6-8 weeks at Jung von Matt/Hamburg offer indispensable insights into the real world of work.

Studying at ‘AKA’ enables you to create your own reel and attend seminars with the best from all over the world, some of which are interdisciplinary. But the most important thing, apart from your projects and the network that is created during your course of studies, is that you get to know the most important agencies, productions, etc. personally and are very well prepared for the market. I can definitely recommend the study programme!

The Filmakademie helped me turn my passion and hobby into a profession. During the years of my study programme, I was able to utilise this unique ‘playing field’ with many different projects, continually developing myself, gaining experience for the industry and getting to know my own limits.

It's a privilege to study there and to have the chance to be surrounded by so many talented students from all crafts and trades, with whom you can realise projects that would otherwise seem impossible.
