The Symposium

Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg invites you to the symposium INPUT <> OUTPUT – Impulses, Exchange, Story Market on April 7 and 8, 2025.

This two-day event combines a keynote session (Input) with a pitch market (Output), offering a platform for exchange between technology and film.

The symposium will take place in FABW´s Caligari Cinema and is open to students, alumni, external guests, and students from other film schools. Its goal is to foster dialogue and initiate collaborative projects.

The event will be hosted by Gerhard Maier, Artistic Director of the Seriencamp Festival & Conference.

Participation is free of charge, and the symposium will primarily be held in English. Pitches will be conducted in both German and English.

The INPUT

The relationship between the film industry and AI is characterized by hype and hysteria, skepticism, and cautious exploration. Over two conference days, INPUT <> OUTPUT focuses on this topic, examining concrete applications, evolving business models, and the present and future opportunities and risks.

Experts from the fields of film, literature, art, and science will share their experiences in discussions and case studies, presenting diverse approaches to integrating AI-powered tools into their work.

The OUTPUT

Insights into the Future of Film: Current students in the graduate study phase and their final year as well as alumni of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (up to a maximum of three years after graduation) seize the opportunity to present their creative visions directly to industry representatives from editorial teams and production companies.

Whether it's thesis projects, concepts, or initial, unproduced material – this event offers an excellent opportunity for pitching and networking.
