IN MY PARENTS' HOUSE celebrates premiere in Rotterdam
The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is one of the most important film festivals in Europe. In its 54th year, the festival will take place from January 30 to February 9, 2025, and a graduation film from Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg has been selected for the main “Tiger Competition” section. IM HAUS MEINER ELTERN (IN MY PARENTS' HOUSE) is the only German entry competing with thirteen other productions for the award and the associated prize money of 40,000 euros. In addition to Tim Ellrich (writer and director) and Leopold Pape (producer / Coronado Film), who are graduating from FABW with the film, a number of Filmakademie alumni were also involved in its creation (see credits below).
IM HAUS MEINER ELTERN centers on Holle, a spiritual healer who takes care of her brother, who suffers from schizophrenia, and her aging parents. While she tries to finally make a change in her family, Holle is confronted with a man who rejects any kind of help. The leading roles are played by Jenny Schily, Ursula Werner, Manfred Zapatka and Jens Brock.
The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is one of the leading international film festivals with a year-round programme and actively supports new and experimental film talents through its co-production market CineMart, the Hubert Bals Fund, Rotterdam Lab and other industry activities. The Tiger Competition was launched in 1995 with the aim of discovering and raising the profile of emerging international film talents. The Tiger Award comes with a cash prize of 40,000 euros, split between the director and the producer of the winning film. In addition, two Special Jury Prizes worth 10,000 euros are awarded for outstanding artistic achievements in the competition.
