Debut film wins in Cannes

IN DIE SONNE SCHAUEN by Filmakademie alumna Mascha Schilinski won the Jury Prize at Cannes. The screenplay, co-written with Louise Peter at FABW, explores the female perspective over a century.

FABW has a New Director

Welcome, Dr. Andreas Bareiß!
The internationally experienced producer and long-time FABW lecturer took over the leadership of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg on May 1, 2025.

Nine FABW Students Awarded Germany Scholarship

In 2025, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg awarded a record nine Deutschlandstipendien. The €300 monthly support is funded equally by the federal government and private sponsors.

Caligari Prizes Awarded

The Friends of FABW association has awarded 12 student projects with Caligari prizes worth €5,000 each.

The awards are provided by various sponsors and supporters as well as members of the Friends association.

Exhibition honouring Prof. Thomas Schadt

The MIK Ludwigsburg will present the exhibition "Zwischenheimat. Photography by Thomas Schadt" from April 19 to June 15, 2025. It features photographs alongside excerpts from his award-winning documentary films.

German Camera Awards 2025:

Two students and three alumni of FABW have been nominated for the 35th German Camera Award for their achievements in the fields of cinematography and editing.

The award ceremony will take place in Cologne on June 13.

German Film Awards: 2 "LOLAS" for FABW Alumni

FABW graduates Julian R. Wagner in the category Best Production Design for SEPTEMBER 5 and Jan Stoltz in the category Best Visual Effects for HAGEN – IM TAL DER NIBELUNGEN have each won one of the coveted “LOLAS.”

Workshop with students

The "Generation Übermorgen" film workshop in Ludwigsburg enables young people from less privileged backgrounds to tell their stories through film and promotes diversity.

Award for Successful Diversity Strategy

Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg received the "Shaping Diversity" certificate for its successful two-year effort to promote diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities in all areas of its organization.
